In an era of increasing geopolitical uncertainty, lifestyle shifts, and global mobility challenges, many affluent U.S. families are pursuing a “Plan B” through alternative residency and citizenship options. This session explores the key motivations driving wealthy families to diversify their personal and family footprints beyond U.S. borders — from enhancing freedom of movement to improving lifestyle security and legacy planning opportunities.
Attendees will gain insight into the most sought-after destinations for second residency and citizenship — from Europe and the Caribbean to emerging global hubs — and the unique benefits each offers. The presentation will also address frequently asked questions, clarify common misconceptions, and highlight how these strategies align with broader wealth preservation and succession goals. Dalton will share insights from Henley & Partners, a global leader in residence and citizenship planning, along with key trends shaping the 2025 landscape.
Dalton Skach is based in New York City and joined Henley & Partners in September 2023. Since then, he has assisted dozens of families in securing residency or citizenship in jurisdictions including Portugal, Spain, Greece, Malta, Panama, Saint Kitts and Nevis, Antigua and Barbuda, and Dominica, among others. While Dalton has in-depth expertise in these programs, he is well-versed in the firm’s 35+ global offerings and holds a Certification in Investment Migration from the Investment Migration Council. His personal travel to more than 40 countries further informs his ability to guide clients through the complexities of international mobility.
