Upcoming Volunteer Opportunity with I Care Atlanta

Volunteers needed to provide one on one counseling.

The I Care Atlanta, Inc. Event is just around the corner!  We are bringing back (by popular demand) HOME BUYING 101 and we need volunteers to sign up to discuss budgeting and getting ready to purchase a home as well as volunteers to meet with individuals for one on one counseling AFTER the presentations.

The Home Buying 101 is a unique workshop where:

1. FPA members open the floor by discussing budgeting and things to think about before making the decision to purchase a home.
2. A mortgage lender then discusses the varying programs available as well as goes into detail about the mortgage approval process.
3. A home inspector discusses the importance of this step and what a home inspector looks for.
4. And lastly a realtor from the community wraps it up with the whole process summarized.

**DETAILS FOR I Care Atlanta, Inc. ENGAGEMENT:

WHEN: Saturday, August 19th; Presentation/Workshop on Home Buying 101 followed by Q&A begins at 10:00 AM, One-on-One Counseling commences at 11:00 AM. 

WHERE: I Care Atlanta, Inc., 5879-B New Peachtree Rd, Doraville, GA 30340.  We will meet in the GED Center.

WHO: You will be meeting with low income individuals and couples who utilize I Care Atlanta, but also I Care Atlanta’s partners: I Will Survive, Gilgal, Interfaith Outreach, and local and civic communities. With this workshop event, we have opened it up to individuals of the surrounding areas as well. 

WHAT: The coordinators at I Care Atlanta believe that basic savings, budgeting, and discussion related to Home Buying and preparing for a home purchase will be the topics of importance.

MATERIALS: At the engagement, we will have available:

1.        You will not need to the entire workbook but be aware of the following pages for this engagement specifically:

 iii.      Page 28-29 – RESOURCES!  Here you will find links to pages like Consolidated Credit Counseling, financial calculators, IRS, SSA, etc.

  iv.      PAGES 30-44 – WORKSHEETS! Page 44 – Debt Reduction Sheet, Page 40 – Cash Flow (Budgeting) Spending Plan

2.)    One-Sheets with specific topics, i.e. getting out of debt, improving your credit, etc.
